We have another exciting week ahead at Metro E! This week marks our first themed dress-up week of the school year as we celebrate College & Career Readiness Week! 🎓👔

Each day has a different theme designed to get our students thinking about their futures, dreaming big, and having a little fun along the way! The daily dress-up themes are included in this week's newsletter, so be sure to check out the flyer and help your Buccaneer plan their outfits.

👕 Dress-Up Week Reminder

While we want our students to have fun with the themes, this is NOT a free-dress week. If your student chooses not to participate in the theme of the day, they MUST be dressed in the regular Metro E dress code.

Additionally, Crocs, slides, and flip-flops are NOT permitted, even when participating in the themed dress-up days. Please make sure your child's footwear meets our regular dress code expectations.

Thank you for helping us keep our dress-up days fun while still maintaining our campus expectations!

💰 Our Fall Fundraiser Launches Wednesday!

We also need your HELP NOW as we get ready to launch our Metro E Fall Fundraiser on Wednesday!

Before students can begin actually campaigning and sharing the fundraiser, each student must have their SchoolFundr account registered. Registration only takes approximately 2–3 minutes per student, but we need EVERY student registered before we launch!

Currently, only 222 of our 685 students are registered, which means we have a LOT of Buccaneers who still need to complete this quick step. 😬

👉 Right now, we are NOT asking you to start fundraising. We simply need you to REGISTER your student's account. The step-by-step registration instructions are included in this week's newsletter.

Beginning Wednesday, we will officially kick off the campaigning portion of our fundraiser!

🎯 Our Goal: $20,000!

We have set a school-wide goal of $20,000, and this fundraiser will directly support our students and campus. The money raised will help fund student incentives throughout the year, as well as important campus projects and needs.

One of the great things about using SchoolFundr is that 97% of the proceeds entered into the system come back to Metro E, with only 3% going toward credit card processing fees.

That means your participation makes a BIG difference!

So, before Wednesday, please take those 2–3 minutes to get your child's account registered. If all 685 of our students are registered, we will be in a much better position to reach our $20,000 goal together!

We are excited to officially welcome parents and guardians to campus for lunch beginning this week! There are no designated lunch visitor days—families are welcome to visit during their child’s scheduled lunch time.

Please remember these important expectations:

🧺 Parents and students must eat at the picnic tables outside the cafeteria. Parent seating is not available inside the cafeteria.

👨‍👩‍👧 Lunch visits are for you and YOUR child only. Friends/classmates may not leave the cafeteria to join you.

🥪 Food may only be brought for YOUR child. Food may not be provided to or shared with other students due to food allergies and student safety requirements.

⏰ Please arrive according to your child’s scheduled lunch time and be mindful that students must return to class on time.

💜💛 We love having our families on campus and are excited to welcome you into our Metro E village!

This year, we are introducing a new, transparent discipline process for students in Grades 1–6 designed to help students take ownership of their choices and understand the consequences of their actions. Students may receive an infraction for behaviors outlined on our Metro E Infraction Log, and the corresponding consequence for each level of infraction is clearly identified so that students and families know what to expect.

Infraction logs will remain at school in each student’s data folder, and teachers will maintain ongoing communication with families whenever an infraction is given. Our goal is not to fill the log—it is to keep it blank! At the end of each grading period, students who have a blank infraction log will be recognized with a special incentive for demonstrating positive behavior and making responsible choices.

Our goal is simple: clear expectations, consistent consequences, strong communication, and celebrating students who make great choices!

Parents, please remember that our dress code has changed from previous school years. What was acceptable last year may NOT be acceptable this year.

🚫 Plain-colored T-shirts are NOT acceptable dress code shirts.

Students MUST wear one of the following:

Collared polo shirt – any color or pattern

Oxford-style button-down shirt – any color or pattern

Metro E or Miller HS spirit T-shirt – MUST have a prominent Metro E or Miller HS logo

A plain T-shirt without a Metro E or Miller HS logo is NOT in dress code, regardless of the color.

Please help us by checking your student’s shirt before they leave for school each morning. Thank you for your support and partnership!

🚗 Metro E Families — Thank You! 💜💛

Our parents are doing a GREAT job with our arrival and dismissal procedures! We appreciate your patience and partnership as we continue to make a few refinements to keep the process moving safely and efficiently.

A few important reminders:

📍 Parking lots are NOT pick-up or drop-off zones. Please use only the designated locations shown on our maps.

🏷️ Please use your pick-up placard! The placards distributed at Meet the Teacher help us quickly identify who you are picking up and greatly expedite the dismissal process. Without a placard, our staff has to stop and ask each parent who they are picking up.

🚙 Grades 3–6 Pick-Up on 15th Street: Please DO NOT double park on 15th Street. Keeping the lane clear allows for a constant flow of traffic and helps us get everyone through dismissal much faster.
